• Voltmeter or multimeter
• 1/2" wrench
• Electrical tape
1. Disconnect Wires
• Remove any wires connected to the large terminals of the solenoid.
• Use electrical tape to cover the cable terminals and keep them apart.
2. Set Up Multimeter
• Set your multimeter to the ohms setting.
3. Check Large Terminals
• Place a probe on each large terminal with the key off and the cart in neutral.
• You should see open or infinite resistance when no power is applied.
4. Activate Solenoid
• Press the accelerator with the cart's movement control in the forward position.
• Check for continuity or a very small resistance across the large terminals. This indicates the solenoid is functioning.
5. Test Small Terminals
• Check the small terminals while pressing the accelerator.
• You should see full battery pack voltage, confirming the activation circuit is working.
• Cart does not start or has no power.
• Starter remains engaged after the engine starts.
• Clicking sound without the solenoid engaging.
By following these steps, you can determine if your golf cart solenoid is functioning properly or needs replacement.
